Secretary's Message |
| Its that time of the year when most of you will start thinking about
the coming season and whether you should start going to nets or not. Well I can tell you
that whilst you are perhaps getting ready to start your season the committee have been
working extremely hard to ensure that everything is ready for you. I am pleased to say
that the playing staff is slowly increasing and I feel very confident for the season. The
nets have been well attended by most people but we would still like to see a few more of
you. Once again there are several things that require your attention. I would be most grateful if you would take the time to reply to these, especially your availability list for the pre-season friendlies. It is most important that we know who would like to play when, so we can arrange to give as many people a game as is possible. So please fill it in and return (by email to Steve Lockyer) The quiz night went very well and the bonus ball is up and running. The one down side is that the same faces were at the quiz night and have numbers on the bonus ball. The night was made a success by these people bringing friends, family and work colleagues. These events are vital to the club and will represent a saving of £15 - £20 on your annual subs and match fees. I do not believe that the same people should be continually paying out so please help by participating whenever possible. I look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks and please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything that you wish to discuss about the club. Steve Lockyer |
BONUS BALL |
| First winner of the £25 Bonus Ball was Lyn Price |
Overseas Players |
| I am pleased to announce that we have two overseas players who will be playing for us this season. I would like to welcome Jean Bence from South Africa and Steven Teepa from New Zealand. Jean is staying with family in Chandlers Ford and Steven will be staying at Beezer's. Both players will be eagerly competing for a 1st XI spot and I am sure that these two, along with several new and old faces that have expressed an interest to play this season, will provide good competition for places. |
Evening League |
| Due to the lateness of the A.G.M's decision to withdraw from the evening league the fixtures had already been arranged and a decision has been made by the committee to play in the evening league this season before making a decision on whether to enter next year. Steve Lockyer will be the Captain of the side and players from outside the club will be used should we not get enough interest from club members. |
Colts |
| As mentioned in the previous newsletter we are looking to start colts teams this year. We will look to have under 11 and under 13 sides and will practice at Crestwood School before the seniors. If you know of any youngsters who may be interested in playing then please pass the details on to Steve Lockyer (by email to Steve Lockyer) |
New Players |
| Although the playing staff is looking stronger than last year we still require players of all standards. We all know too well that 50 players soon become 30 during the season and so I ask all members to be on the look out for potential new players. Should anyone require a poster for work etc then please contact Steve Lockyer Crestwood School before the seniors. If you know of any youngsters who may be interested in playing then please pass the details on to Steve Lockyer (by email to Steve Lockyer) |

Summer Nets |
| As discussed at the A.G.M. we are hoping to hold summer nets at Crestwood School. The exact day has yet to be decided but I hope that as many of you as possible will take the opportunity to attend. There will be fielding practice for those that wish as well as general nets. |
VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED |
| Players required to distribute leaflets at schools in the Eastleigh and Southampton areas, by attending coaching courses run by Hampshire CC. These sessions will be our opportunity to promote our colts team for this season. Anyone with a couple of hours to spare please contact Steve Lockyer (by email to Steve Lockyer) |
SUBS |
| Subs are now due (£20), please pay to any member of the committee. Prompt payment would be appreciated as the club has a lot of pre-season fees to pay. |
