| 4x4 On-Road Training | ||||||||||
| Drivers of 4x4’s are often unaware of the varying handling characteristics of these vehicles and have a lack of understanding of the risks involved. Of particular concern is the cornering stability of these vehicles, especially under emergency avoidance situations, where their high centre of gravity makes them more unstable than a conventional car. |
Interesting Fact Most child pedestrians hit by a car at 40mph will be killed. At 30mph half are killed. At 20mph one in 20 will be killed - drivers should closely monitor their speed, and the road environment, when children are about |

| Our course module focuses on the high risks related to this type of vehicle, working proactively to improve an employee's knowledge of their vehicle's handling characteristics, hazard awareness and proactive / defensive driving skills. We also focus on pedestrian safety, especially during low-speed manoeuvring, as the rear visibility out of many 4x4's is limited. | ||||||||||
| This training will be appropriate if the risk assessments show that employees are driving 4x4 vehicles, or the crash analysis shows that there are a high number of incidents involving these vehicles. | ||||||||||
