  Scheduling & Route Planning Training
This is an area where organisations rarely provide training, as it is assumed that anyone who can drive also knows how to set an effective schedule and plan a sensible / safe route.  Our experience has shown that this is often not the case, especially with younger drivers.  If employees are setting unrealistic schedules for themselves (or worse, if these schedules are being set for them by management), then there will be a temptation for the employee to take unnecessary risks, and often they will violate road traffic regulations, especially speed limits, to stay on schedule.  Similarly, if the quickest and safest routes are not being used, the employee is exposing his or herself to unnecessary risk.  The other issue here is with fatigue, as if employees are spending an unnecessarily long time driving, they run an increased risk of falling asleep, one of the biggest causes of collisions in the UK.

Interesting Fact

In 2001 there were 34,749 collisions on the roads in the UK that involved a death or a serious injury

Our course module focuses on practical advice on how to set an effective schedule and on planning a quick and safe route.  This includes the safe use of in-vehicle navigational aids and also other resources that employees can use to plan a route.

This training course may be appropriate if the risk assessments show that you have employees covering high mileages, or you have collisions where the route cause is identified as fatigue.
