  Routine Maintenance Training
Many occupational drivers, especially those with their 'own' company car, do very little, if any, routine maintenance on their vehicles between services.  Whilst modern vehicles are now, in general, very reliable, regular checks need to be carried out to ensure that it is operating correctly, and to minimise the risk of a breakdown.  This issue is getting increasingly important as manufactures make vehicles with longer serve schedules.  The biggest issues are oil levels - which if left unchecked can lead to a catastrophic failure of the engine, putting the driver and passengers at risk, and tyre condition, which can adversely affect the road holding and stopping ability of a vehicle.

Interesting Fact

Many drivers of company vehicles never carry out any under-bonnet checks, or tyre checks, relying on the regular service schedules to spot any problems

Our course module covers the theoretical and practical aspects of routine vehicle maintenance.  We explain why checks are important, in terms of the employee's own safety, and show the trainees how to carry out the checks - a vital part of the course as many drivers have never carried out these checks before, and need guidance to help them build confidence.  This course is often combined with our breakdown management training course.

This training course may be appropriate if you have a history of breakdowns, or auditing shows evidence of poorly maintained vehicles.
